Dog Portrait Painting Demonstration

I started a dog portrait demonstration painting during Thursday night’s class. I spend most of the class working with the individual students, so I only had a few minutes here and there to start the basic block-in. I’ll be continuing to work on it in Saturday’s class.

New class demonstration painting.

Last Thursday, I taught my first class in 7 years at Eva Reynolds Fine Arts. Here is the the painting I created as a demonstration. It was a great evening. Excellent questions and conversations with the students. I'm looking forward to seeing what they can do next week. More classes will be scheduled soon.

I took a break from a painting that I’ve been working on and stressing over for 2 years to do a quick one hour oil sketch of Ken. He’s a cat who loves to hang over whatever is around and stare at you for hours on end. It’s always nice to knock a piece out in one take and not look back. This painting did that for me.

Sacre Coeur From Musée d’Orsay

Finished a new painting today. My favorite sight from a recent trip to Paris. The painting is 3′ x 5′ and was a serious challenge, but I’m happy with the result.
