Today's #museumtourtuesday involves a piece that's currently in my head as inspiration while I'm in the midst of the Plein Air Easton Competition and Arts Festival.
This piece by Willard Metcalf
has such a beautiful sense of mood. What I find most interesting is the
way the intensity of the red poppies overpowers the strength of the
bright white sky, shifting the focus downwards into the more shadowed
areas of the painting, and away from the value contrasts at the top. - Patrick Saunders
