"Dusk In Saint Michaels" - Landscape Painting - Plein Air Easton

I often find certain colors to be their most intense at dusk. The green fence stood out from all of the other muted colors, even with the warm sky of the setting sun backlighting the entire scene.

It immediately called to mind two different things, a painting by Willard Metcalf, which I shared last Tuesday, and the cover of the self-titled Black Sabbath album from 1970. My painting doesn't look like or even look inspired by either, but those were the influences running through my head as I painted this scene. It's funny, the things that come to mind while you are painting.
