Here is my largest full length portrait to date. This one took quite a commitment. I wanted to give a clear sense of the entire regalia and all of its intricate details, while still keeping some energy in the brushwork.

Landscape Demonstration Painting - Newnan ArtRez Floral Workshop, Newnan, Georgia

My demonstration painting this morning from a photo on the last day of my floral workshop as part of my Newnan Artist in Residence Program this month. I did a landscape today in order to show how my approach to painting is the same no matter what the subject. 

This piece is another one where I did more talking than painting, thanks to the wonderfully inquisitive group of artists in my class this week. We all learned not to paint things, but the difference between things. Thank you for painting with me, and I hope you enjoyed this workshop as much as I did.

My thanks also to everyone at Newnan ArtRez for bringing me to your wonderful community. Kimberly and I have really enjoyed our time in Newnan, Georgia.

Painting Demonstration - Piedmont Driving Club, Atlanta, GA

Artist friends, on January 29th I'm giving a painting demonstration and artist talk hosted by the Olmsted Plein Air Invitational at the Piedmont Driving Club.

"Awaiting" - Animal Portrait, Fort Worth Stockyards, Texas

This handsome guy patiently greeted visitors to the Fort Worth Stockyards. He was very curious and attentive to everyone that approached him.

This is a larger piece for me, as I wanted to depict him closer to life size in order to capture the impact of his expression.

Portrait Painting Demonstration - Newnan, Georgia

I had a great group of advanced placement art students for my portrait demonstration painting from life this morning at The Donald W. Nixon Centre for Performing & Visual Arts, as part of my Newnan Artist in Residence Program program this month. They asked great questions, and it was inspiring to see in them the effort that the community of Newnan, Georgia is making not only to support the arts, but also to develop future artists.

Pet Portrait Painting - Chardonnay the Bichon Frise

The first painting I did after settling in at the Newnan Artist in Residence Program this week, a fun little warm-up of a pup named Chardonnay, who really enjoyed posing for photos. There's pure happiness in that expression.
