I painted a portrait for my demonstration painting on the last day of my first workshop on Tybee Island, to show the artists in my class that I really do approach all subject matter in the same way.

Portrait Study - Coppini Academy of Fine Arts

I tried something new Thursday at The Coppini Academy of Fine Arts open session. I went straight to thick paint (I usually work from thin to thick). 

The results were mixed, but I love the paint texture on this detail of my portrait study.

Throwback Thursday - Fort Funston, San Francisco, California

For #ThrowBackThursday, here's one of my fondest memories of all time. 

When we lived in San Francisco, California, we would take our dogs to Fort Funston every weekend. A former harbor defense installation (the bunkers still overlook the beach), the fort is now a huge protected area and an off leash dog park. 

We could all learn a lot from the pure joy these dogs shared as they reconnected with their friends or met for the very first time (bum sniffing notwithstanding).

Georgia painters, I've been asked to give artist talks on the evenings before both of my sold out Tybee Island, Georgia, painting workshops sponsored by The Tybee Tourist and Mermaid Cottages Vacation Rentals.
