Through the Trees, Salt Creek Beach - Laguna Beach Plein Air Painting Invitational

I find the trees in Southern California endlessly fascinating.

At Salt Creek Beach in Dana Point, California, there is a nice variety of trees. It's not just the textures and shapes of the trees themselves, but their shadows and light effects on the environment around them. With this painting, I set out to capture the late afternoon sun blasting through the lace-like patterns created by these interwoven limbs and leaves.

"Through the Trees, Salt Creek Beach" (oil on linen, 18"x24") is available for sale at the Laguna Plein Air Painters Association's 20th Annual Laguna Plein Air Invitational at Festival of Arts/Pageant of the Masters.
